Accessibility Statement
The Shy Cat Dance Studio is committed to making our website, booking tools, communications, and in-person experiences accessible to adults 18+. We aim to meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidance and to remove barriers so more people can train, perform, and advance their careers.
Scope
This statement covers:
-
Digital: theshycat.com, online booking/checkout, email/SMS updates, and event pages.
-
On-site: classes, privates, and special events delivered in partner venues across Houston.
What we’re doing
On the web
-
Semantic HTML, proper heading order, form labels, and clear error messaging.
-
Sufficient color contrast; visible focus states; keyboard navigability.
-
Alt text for meaningful images; descriptive link text; skip-to-content links.
-
Captions (or summaries) for training clips we publish; reduced-motion friendly media where possible.
-
Mobile-responsive layouts tested on current Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge (latest two versions).
In person
-
Because we operate in partner spaces, we prioritize venues with step-free entry, accessible restrooms (when available), and clear wayfinding.
-
Upon request (with reasonable advance notice), we can provide: early entry, seating/rest options, lower-sensory lighting/audio adjustments when feasible, mic’d instruction, printed cues, and heels-optional demonstrations.
-
Service animals are welcomed as required by law.
-
If a scheduled space cannot reasonably meet a needed accommodation, we will offer alternatives (e.g., reschedule to an accessible location, credit/refund, or a 1:1 consultation) without penalty.
Known limitations & third-party services
-
User-generated content or creator posts we share may not always include full captions or alt text; we add them where we control the media.
-
Some functions (payments, ticketing, video hosting) rely on third-party platforms. We select vendors with strong accessibility posture and raise issues with them when we find barriers.
Feedback & requests
We welcome questions, accommodation requests, and bug reports. Please include the page, feature, or event name and a brief description of the issue or need.

We aim to acknowledge messages within 2 business days and resolve critical access issues within 10 business days where feasible.
Continuous improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We review our site and event workflows periodically, apply fixes as standards evolve, and train staff to uphold accessible practices in both digital and in-studio settings.
If you believe we have not adequately addressed an accessibility concern, please contact us so we can make it right. You may also have rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and applicable Texas law.
